Mistakes when braking on a slope
1 Example
You are driving a front-wheel-drive vehicle with studless tires. You put it in drive gear and brake rapidly. You can not stop and run somebody over.
2 What did you do wrong?
- You did not recognize how dangerous the slope was.
- You tried to slow down by using only the foot-brake.
- You put too much confidence in your studless tires on a snowy road.
3 How to Avoid Accidents
- You need to have self-confidence, but do not have too much confidence.
- On a downward sloping hill, the center of gravity shifts from the back to the front,so that the tail of the vehicle gets shaken.
- Before going into a downhill, shift down properly and try not to step on the brake too much.
- Remember the car can not stop immediately on a slope, snowy or frozen road.
*When you go downhill, use your gears.
